Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple is a famous temple in Tirupati. It is a must see temple for Tirumala pilgrims.
Rama temple in Tirupati is an ancient and peaceful temple. This temple is in a serene atmosphere. Devotees can pray the god without any disturbance here.
This Rama temple in Tirupati was built by the Chola kings in 10th century A.D. This great temple has a history of more than one thousand years. This temple was well developed by various kings around 15th century in the times of Sri krishna devaralya. We can see the symbols and raja mudrikas of Vijaya Nagara dynasty here on the rock walls of the outer mandapas.
The temple has a tall and royal compound wall.
Lord Rama along with the goddess Sita and Laxmana has been receiving devotee’s prayers and giving the blesses here from centuries.

Jambhavanta was a follower of Lord Sri Rama. Once he saw a cave here. A bright light was coming out from the cave. Jambavanta asked the reason for that light source. Lord Rama said that is the light of god. Jambavanta established the god’s idol there and worshiped him. According to that legend, Lord Rama in this temple is belonged to Treta yuga.
This Kodanda Ramalayam is in the middle part of the Tirupati. This Ramalayam is situated within a distance of one km from Tirupati railway station. There are plenty of autos from there.
There is an Anjaneya swamy temple just opposite to the temple. Visitors of Rama temple are also worshiped the Anjaneya Swamy.
Alipiri, The starting point of the Tirumala foot way is very near from this temple.
A beautiful park is at the opposite to the Rama temple. That was the pond of Kodanda Rama temple before 20 years.
This temple is the third important temple in Tirupati after Govinda Raja Swamy temple and Kapila theertham, the great Shiva temple
